Chicken and Pork in Chinese Barbecue Sauce

Meat that's marinated in sweet and savory sauce is the way to go for that family celebration you have ahead!

INGREDIENTS

1/2 cup MAGGI® SAVOR Calamansi
1/2 cup vinegar
1/4 cup Chinese cooking wine
2 sachets MAGGI MAGIC SARAP®
1 cup brown sugar
4 pcs star anise
2 tbsp chili-garlic oil
1 cup water
1 kg chicken, quartered
1 kg pork ribs, sliced into 5 inch pieces
2 pcs carrots, cubed
3 pcs stalks celery, sliced
1/2 cup annatto oil

Directions

1. In a bowl combine MAGGI® SAVOR, vinegar, cooking wine, MAGGI MAGIC SARAP®, sugar, star anise, chili-garlic oil and water. Marinate chicken and pork in the marinade for 30 minutes.

2. Boil chicken and pork in the marinade for 30 minutes. Remove cover and add carrots and celery. Put back cover and simmer over low heat for another 30 minutes. When tender remove meats and rest for 10 minutes.

3. Heat Annatto oil and fry prepared chicken and pork. Another option is to grill the meats for healthier barbecue.
