MAGGI Treats Sarap Sustansya Champions with Christmas Cooking Demo

MAGGI recently reunited the MAGGI Sarap Sustansya Caravan champions for a Christmas Cooking Demo made extra special with the appearance of surprise guest Chef Sandy Daza.




MAGGI Sarap Sustansya Caravan, a five-day event that goes from barangay to barangay to promote tasty, affordable and heathy meal preparations among Filipino mothers, gathered about 80 moms from various communities for a day of overflowing fun and prizes, and of learning Christmas recipes from Lifestyle Network Food Prints host and famed food columnist/book author Chef Sandy.


“This program is very important because [the knowledge learned] is something that they could pass on. It’s a legacy. You’re teaching the next generation. They’re going to grow up with a habit of cooking like this so it’s very important that they learn properly, learn very good recipes using the proper ingredients,” Chef Sandy said of the MAGGI Sarap Sustansya Caravan.


Highlight of the event was Chef Sandy’s participation where he generously and animatedly shared a winning Christmas recipe, Roast Chicken with MAGGI Oyster Sauce, which families and loved ones can enjoy in this season’s festivities. More Christmas recipes and cooking demos were shared by MAGGI Resident Chef Erik Magtanong.




“The Christmas Demo is a way for MAGGI to thank the Sarap Sustansya champions for actively participating in the cause and in selflessly sharing whatever they have learned from the caravan to fellow mothers,” Geetha Balakrishna, Business Executive Manager of MAGGI Philippines, remarked.


The MAGGI Sarap Sustansya Caravan began in 2014 in Barangays Sto. Niño and Jesus dela Peña in Marikina where mothers were taught about the importance to champion taste and balance in the meals they prepare for their families. This was followed by implementation at barangays Sta. Elena and Fortune in Marikina, and at barangays San Dionisio and San Antonio in Parañaque. Led by a Chef-Nutritionist tandem, the mothers were taught about taste and balance through intensive lecture discussions, cooking demonstrations and hands-on exercises on cooking techniques for commonly cooked recipes.


The MAGGI Sarap Sustansya Caravan currently has 210 Sarap Sustansya Caravan Champions in six barangays where the caravan was previously held.


The MAGGI Sarap Sustansya Caravan is slated to conduct a series of community tours nationwide in the upcoming months.
