Bangus Bistek is a Filipino recipe made with soy sauce, calamansi juice, onions, and milkfish. It is a variation of the traditional bistek Tagalog, which uses beef. The recipe became popular in the 1960s when milkfish farming became widespread in the Philippines and is now a beloved part of Filipino cuisine.

    5 Min
    Fry potato in preheated oil until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
  • Step2

    5 Min
    Sauté onion in the same pan. Strain and set aside.
  • Step3

    10 Min
    Season bangus with MAGGI® Magic Sarap® and coat well with flour. Fry in the same oil until golden brown. Remove and set aside.

    Remove oil from the pan leaving 2tbsp. Sauté garlic until light golden brown. Pour water and simmer. Add MAGGI® Oyster Sauce, calamansi juice, sugar and pepper. Add back fried bangus and potato and simmer for 2mins.

    Transfer on a serving plate, top with sautéed onion, spring onion and toasted garlic. Serve immediately.
